THE JOURNEY BEHIND YARN TRAVELER

It Started With One
Local Skein

While travelling, Jennifer began seeking out locally dyed yarn wherever she went. Soon the tools became part of the discovery too beautiful needles and hooks that were as satisfying to use as the fibre itself.
That love of local makers, thoughtful tools and the stories behind handmade things eventually became Yarn Traveler & Haberdashery.

REAL STITCHES. REAL STORIES.

See Why Crafters Love The Yarn Travelers

Every crafter's journey is unique, but our community of knitters and crocheters have shared how The Yarn Travelers became an essential part of their creative adventures.

“The yarn I bought from Yarn Traveler & Haberdashery was so lovely to work with. The colour was extra vibrant and interesting as the shading altered slightly now and then making it a pleasure to work with. And, the softness was perfect, making it easy on the hands and giving me the satisfaction as I knit a baby sweater for my grandson. (Lichen and Lace, 80/20 Sock)”

“I have something to say about the yarn I purchased from Jennifer at Yarn Traveler & Haberdashery at the Saturday Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market. The yarn was bulky 80/20 superwash merino, in garland a shade/colour from Lichen and Lace based in New Brunswick. It knit up like a dream for a turban style headband, adult size. Highly recommended!”

“Jennifer at the Yarn Traveler and Haberdashery is knowledgeable and truly awesome. As someone who hasn't picked up a crochet hook in years, Jennifer connected me with just the right hook. It is very ergonomic and allows me to crochet without my wrist and hand getting tired, and it is the perfect size for a person who is beginning to crochet again after 30 years. STITCH NOTES

Everything you need to know before you cast on - from fiber content and yardage to care, dyeing, and shipping.

This sock yarn is made from 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon, giving you softness, drape, and extra durability for close-to-skin projects like socks, gloves, and light layering pieces.

Each 100g skein contains approximately 400 meters (437 yards) of yarn, which is plenty for a standard pair of adult socks, a generous cowl, or lightweight shawlette.

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle, no-rinse wool wash. Gently squeeze out excess moisture (do not wring), and lay flat to dry in the shade to maintain shape and color vibrancy.

Yes! It works wonderfully for any standard fingering or 4-ply weight pattern. We always recommend knitting a small gauge swatch first to ensure your tension matches the pattern instructions.

All our indie yarns are hand-dyed in small batches. Because of the artisanal hand-dyeing process, slight variations in color distribution and saturation occur, making each skein uniquely beautiful.

In-stock orders ship within 1–3 business days from Canada. Local pickup is also available at checkout for customers near our studio.
